Gordon “Gord” Milner, age 85, of Elliott, Iowa passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side. Gord was born on June 25, 1940, in Elliott, Iowa, the son of Russell and Mildred (Rush) Milner. He graduated from Elliott High School in 1958 and entered the military. He returned to Elliott and worked for Schantz Grocery until he purchased the business. He owned and operated Gord’s Grocery for 25 years. Gord later worked at U-Haul, the casino and Fareway, until his retirement.Gord was an active member of his community. He enjoyed giving back to his community whenever possible. He helped hang the flags on Elliott’s Main Street and in Hillside Cemetery for Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day. He led the campaign to purchase new Christmas decorations for Elliott and always helped with Elliott’s Christmas celebration. He was always happy to lend a helping hand. Gord enjoyed going on daily walks, playing cards, and going to the lake. He was the proud owner of a 1970 Cougar convertible and enjoyed going to car shows.
Gord was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mildred Milner; brothers: Donald, Larry, and Richard “Dick” Milner; sisters: Dorothy Nelson and Mary Reynolds. Gord is survived by his niece: Ann Frank and husband Brandon of Atlantic, IA; great niece/nephew: Haylee Dunn and husband Frank of Elk Horn, IA, Mia Frank of Elliott, IA, and Aiden Frank of Lyman, Iowa. He is survived by many other nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Per Gord’s wishes he has donated the gift of his body for research. There will be no services.
LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is assisting the family with final arrangements.
