(Atlantic) Kuemper Catholic placed three golfers in the top twelve and claimed the team championship at the Betty Heflin Invitational held Tuesday at Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic. The Knights posted a team score of 355, finishing five strokes ahead of Lewis Central, which shot 360.
Addy Beiter led Kuemper with a third-place finish, carding an 81. Elsa Tiefenthaler followed in seventh with an 87, while Glada Lujano shot 89 to place ninth. Addison Tigges rounded out the scoring for the Knights, finishing 20th with a 98.
Lewis Central Sophomore Chloe Perfect medaled for the Titans with an even par 69.
Taylor Rasmussen of Clarinda finished as runner-up medalist with a seven-over-par 76. Addy Beiter of Kuemper placed third with an 81, followed by Addy Weinrich of Clarinda in fourth with an 83 and Sarah Pickens of Shenandoah in fifth, also with an 83. Catherine Perfect of Lewis shot an 84 to take sixth, while Elsa Tiefenthaler of Kuemper finished seventh with an 87. Chloe Hokel of ADM placed eighth with an 89, and Madison McLaren took tenth, also shooting 89. Emily Sebeniecher of Red Oak finished eleventh with a 90, and Natalie Lensch, also of Red Oak, rounded out the top twelve with a 91.
Atlantic Freshman Maddie McLaren had this to say after her round today.
The other three scorers for Atlantic were, Makenna Schroeder, finished 13th, (92), Nevaeh Fewson, 22nd, (98), Reese Ball, 25th, (99), Addie Freund, 61st, (112). Atlantic Head Coach Brooke Newell thought the team played well today.
