(Council Bluffs) The Atlantic girls track team captured the team title Tuesday at the Lewis Central Co-Ed meet, scoring 156 points. Atlantic won six events added four second-place finishes, and four third-place finishes. Clarinda was runner-up with 104 points.
Lila Wiederstein led the Trojans, winning the 200 meters in 25.87 and the long jump with a mark of 16-09.25, while also running on the first-place 4×100 and 4×200 relays. Stella Van Aernam claimed the 100 meters in 12.51. Jayci Reed placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.60, and Faith Larsen finished second in the discus with a throw of 103.00. Third-place finishes included Braleigh Hass in the 100 meters (12.88), Stella Van Aernam in the 200 meters (26.14), Adler Bruce in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.48), and Olivia Olson in the discus (100-00).
Atlantic added runner-up finishes in the 4×400 relay, with Hass, Reese Harlan, Kaitlyn Hickman, and Ximena Mendez-Cordero clocking 4:17.86, and in the 4×800 relay, where Katrina Williams, Gabrielle Engler, Harlan, and Mendez-Cordero finished in 10:27.05.
Other highlights, Megan Hughes of Glenwood won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.57, while teammate Caitlyn Hebel took the 400 meters in 58.47. Stevie Wilmes of Clarinda claimed the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.82. Madlyn Hoss of Lewis Central won the 800 meters in 2:22.36, Lili Denton of St. Albert captured the 1500 in 4:34.90, and Delayna Reese won the 3000 in 11:31.78.
Glenwood won the 800-sprint medley relay (1:53.34), the 4×800 relay (10:24.08), and the distance medley (4:25.59), while St. Albert took the 4×400 relay in 4:11.91.
In the field events, besides Wiederstein of Atlantic top finished in the Long Jump, Olivia Colfack of Sergeant Bluff-Luton won the discus with a throw of 112-00, Aliyah Moon of Sioux City North claimed the shot put at 39-00.00, and Ellery Bird of Clarinda won the high jump by clearing 5-00.00.
