(Council Bluffs) Lewis Central defended its home track Tuesday at the Lewis Central Co-Ed meet, winning seven events. Atlantic scored 97 points, adding two event wins along with four second-place and four third-place finishes.
For the Titans, Bill Mazzella won the 800 in 2:00.98, Kevin Coots claimed both the 1600 (4:28.99) and 3200 (10:42.60), Kyler McNeal won the discus with a throw of 157-02, Hunter Infanger took the shot put at 55-10.00, and Carter Thielen captured the high jump at 6-02.00. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Lobaugh, Arnold, Monge, and Gerry also finished first in 1:00.80, while Gerry added a second-place finish in the 110 hurdles in 15.10.
Atlantic’s wins came in the 1600 medley relay, where Benton McLaren, Skyler Burcham, Corbin Ritter, and Mason Betts clocked 3:48.95, and the 4×400 relay, as Burcham, Landon Hagen, Colin Rudy, and Ethan McNeal finished in 3:28.19. The Trojans were second in the 4×800 relay (8:32.25) with Betts, Tarrell, Ritter, and Hagen.
Individually for Atlantic, Ethan McNeal was second in the 400 (51.04), Tarrell placed second in the 400 hurdles (56.74), and Gavin McLaren was runner-up in the shot put (55-09.00). Third-place finishes came from Zander Killion in the 110 hurdles (15.45), McNeal in the 200 (22.40), Rudy in the 400 (52.63), and Betts in the 1600 (4:40.24).
Other top finishes included Cale Hall of Red Oak winning both the 100 meters (11.01) and 200 meters (22.08). Aaden Lopez of Glenwood took the 110-meter hurdles in 14.77, while Nolan Wagoner won the 400 meters in 50.84. Jackson Walker of St. Albert captured the 400-meter hurdles in 56.26.
In relay events, Underwood’s team of Stange, Myers, Hughes, and Hull won the 1600 medley relay in 1:34.83. Clarinda, with Wagoner, Phillips, Baumgart, and Roop, took the 4×100 relay in 42.54, while Glenwood’s Pratt, Stephens, Powles, and Crouch won the 4×200 relay in 1:29.72. Red Oak claimed the 4×800 relay in 8:19.74.
Chris Ford of Sioux City East won the long jump with a leap of 21-10.00.
