(Iowa City, IA) — Iowa Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jan Jensen needs guards and she got a good one in the portal on Saturday. Georgia transfer Dani Carnegie has announced on social media that she is joining the Hawkeyes.
Carnegie is a 5’9″ guard from Mount Vernon, NY who had a big season for the Bulldogs — averaging 17.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists this past season in the tough SEC. She scored 20 points or more in a game 13 times and recorded a double-double three times. Carnegie entered the portal when Georgia let go of their head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.
Carnegie spent her freshman season at Georgia Tech where she was a teammate with current Iowa point guard Chit Chat Wright and played under current Iowa assistant LaSondra Barrett. She still has two years of eligibility remaining.
Iowa is in bad need of guards after losing multiple players in the portal — Addie Deal, Emely Rodriguez, Teagan Mallegni, Callie Levin and Kennise Johnson. Levin has already committed to play at Northern Iowa.
