(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys’ golf team finally got on the course for a meet this past week—and made it count. Atlantic captured the tournament title at the Des Moines Christian meet at Jester Park.
As reported earlier, the Trojans turned in an impressive performance, highlighted by Gage Gross earning medalist honors with a 71. Brady Wood finished runner-up for the tournament with a 75, while Hudson McLaren and Sam Brosam each carded 79s, bringing the team total to 304.
Atlantic Head Coach Kendra Henningsen had this reaction to the team’s opening-season victory…
Henningsen noted Gage Gross, one under par 71, is a great start to the season, along with Brady Wood’s 75, which included four birdies.
Two seniors, Jack Muller and Braxton Hass, broke into the six-player line-up, and they did not disappoint.
This same group shot a season-best 298 last season, and Coach Henningsen says the team has set a goal of going under the 298 this season.
The Trojans will play Hawkeye Ten Conference rival Kuemper Catholic at Carroll on Monday, followed by two eighteen-hole tournaments at Shenandoah on Tuesday and Clarinda on Thursday.
