(Lincoln, NE) — Nebraska’s Blake Büyüktuncel is entering the transfer portal. The 6’10” Junior from Turkey started all 33 games for the Cornhuskers and averaged 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has been a starter the last two seasons for Head Coach Fred Hoiberg after transferring from UCLA.
In addition to Büyüktuncel, 6’8″ Sophomore and Lincoln native Justin Bolis and 6’6″ Freshman Quentin Rhymes are in the portal as well. Nebraska is losing five seniors with their eligibility gone — Sam Hoiberg, Jamarques Lawrence, and Rienk Mast are the signifcant losses with Jared Garcia and Kendall Blue leaving as well.
Currently, Hoiberg has two incoming freshmen to Nebraska — 6’5″ Jacob Lanier from Little Rock, Arkansas and 6’7″ Colin Rice from Waukee, IA. That means the Husker roster currently sits at 10 players with Pryce Sandfort the only starter returning plus Braden Frager and Cade Jacobsen who got significant minutes off the bench.
The men’s basketball portal is from April 7 through April 21.
