(Ames, IA) — Iowa St.’s football team will have a lot of new faces at many positions — right now the leading candidate to start at running back seems to be Cameron Pettaway. The 5’10” Sophomore was the Mid American Conference Freshman of the Year last year at Bowling Green. He has already established himself as a great returner — Pettaway returned the opening kickoff of last season 98 yards for a touchdown and was a first team all-conference selection in the MAC at kick returner. On the ground, he had 365 yards on 72 attempts and had 8 receptions for 139 yards and 2 TD. Pettaway credits returning RB Aiden Flora with making him feel comfortable in Ames
Pettaway is excited to work with Offensive Coordinator Tyler Roehl who values the running game
Pettaway says the big eaters up front are improving on their blocking and have come a long way in a short amount of time
Other candidates to play at running back for the Cyclones include Flora who will be a sophomore and Junior transfer Salahadin Allah from Oregon St.
