(Atlantic) Republican candidates for Governor, U.S. Senate, and State Auditor addressed a range of issues during a GOP forum Tuesday night at the Cass County Community Center in Atlantic.
Gubernatorial candidates Brad Sherman, Eddie Andrews, and Adam Steen attended the event. One of the questions presented to the candidates was “What is your plan to grow Iowa, specifically rural Iowa?
Brad Sherman says the challenges facing Iowa’s family farmers are a major issue, and he emphasizes the need to get them back to work. He points out that some large corporate agricultural operations are not treating farmers properly. Sherman supports easing certain regulations to help farmers grow the food needed while addressing potential health concerns in the state. Additionally, he envisions a network of small modular reactors to provide affordable, distributed energy across Iowa.
Additionally, he would like to put to rest regulations that prevent farmers from selling food to their neighbors.
The Republican groups from Adair, Audubon, Cass, Montgomery, and East Pottawattamie County hosted the event. We will hear from Eddie Andrews, gubernatorial candidate, next.
