(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors held a proposed tax levy hearing on Tuesday.
The Supervisors sent out property tax notices (see below) last week which is required by the state. The notices effectively said that property taxes are going down in Guthrie County — the tax rate county wide is going from 6.37250 percent to 6.29635 percent. The rural tax rate is going from 3.73786 to 3.70085. There were a couple of concerned residents at the hearing and County Auditor Dani Fink explained some of the figures
Supervisor Brian Johnson says that property taxes could still be affected by any impending bills passed by the state legislature and also admits its difficult to understand the property tax forms
After the forum, the Supervisors approved the FY2025 GAAP Annual Financial Report, approved the Annual Urban Renewal Report and set the public hearing for the FY2027 budget for April 21 at 9am.
