Series of Virtual Townhalls on Workforce Services for Disabled Iowans Begins Tuesday
(Iowa) — Iowa Workforce Development is holding a series of virtual town hall meetings focused on workforce services for disabled Iowans starting today. The meetings will include updates from Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services and the Iowa Department of the Blind. The goal of the series is to help both stakeholders and the public to better understand the various services available to Iowans with disabilities. Each of the four town hall meetings will focus on a specific topic, and each meeting will be held via Zoom.
UNI Announces New Three-Year Degree Programs for More Than 30 Majors
(Cedar Falls, IA) — The University of Northern Iowa is announcing new three-year accelerated degree programs for more than 30 majors. The programs will be offered in fields including technology, education, public service, media, and human and natural resources. UNI says the three-year pathways are designed to help students complete their degrees more efficiently and enter Iowa’s workforce sooner. One in seven UNI students has already graduated in three years rather than the traditional four.
Des Moines Ranks Fifth In The Nation For AI Hiring
(Iowa) — The Des Moines metro is getting the nod for steady AI hiring. A study by Coworking Cafe ranks Des Moines fifth among mid-sized metros in the nation for AI-enhanced jobs. The study says the metro posted 421 AI jobs last year, with average salaries of nearly 111-thousand dollars annually. It also notes a strong, high-speed network and 22 coworking locations.
TLC And Salt-N-Pepa Join 2026 Iowa State Fair Grandstand Lineup
(Des Moines, IA) — TLC and Salt-N-Pepa are coming to the Iowa State Fair as part of the “It’s Iconic” Tour. They’ll hit the Grandstand stage on August 18th, joined by special guest En Vogue. Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. The concert is part of the Fair’s 2026 Grandstand lineup, which also features HARDY, Rod Stewart, Lainey Wilson, AJR, and Riley Green.
