(Maryville, Missouri) Atlantic placed third out of 21 teams at the NW Missouri High School Indoor Kick-off on Saturday, held on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. The Trojans totaled 48 points, finishing behind Blue Springs, Missouri, with 84 and Blue Springs South, Missouri, which scored 59.
The meet kicked off with the 4000 Meter Distance Medley a 1200, 400, 800, and mile. Nodaway Valley turned in a strong performance finishing second behind Blue Springs, Missouri. The quartet of Kading, Foster, Kading, and Winkelmann posted a time of 11:24.75. Creston placed fifth, Clarinda seventh, and St. Albert finished eighth with a time of 11:33.65.
Dawson Evans of Lenox captured the 60-meter hurdles title with a winning time of 8.48. Atlantic’s Shelton Mualia took third in 8.61, while Lenox’s Kaufman finished sixth. Atlantic’s Zander Killion placed seventh in 8.98.
Cale Hall of Red Oak claimed first place in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.09. Creston’s Seth Gordon finished second in 7.15, while Nodaway Valley’s Cassius Burnside took fifth in 7.27. Bedford’s Kase Coleman placed sixth in 7.33, and Clarinda’s Kayden Hawley and Kaiden Roop finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
In the 3,200 meters, Exira/EHK’s Austin Rasmussen earned a third-place finish with a time of 10:52.56. Atlantic’s Thomas Engler came in seventh at 11:18.82, followed by Clarinda’s Malcomb Taylor in eighth with a time of 11:25.55.
Caden Kaufman of Lenox won the 400 meters in 51.42. AHSTW’s Collin Harder placed third in 51.88, while Atlantic’s Ethan McNeal finished fourth in 52.76. Creston’s Seth Gordon took sixth in 53.91, and Atlantic’s Zander Killion finished eighth in 54.09.
