(Atlantic, IA) — Iowa Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Brad Sherman stopped by Atlantic yesterday and visited the KSOM/KS 95 studios. Sherman has completed his 99 county tour but was in Council Bluffs and Mills County for campaign events — he has had an opportunity to talk to Iowans about many issues including the Iowa economy and the high prices in the grocery stores and at the pump
Every year the state legislature deal with funding education and the increasing demand from school superintendents for more money. Sherman says some districts need to look at their own district to save money
One issue facing the state legislature is sending money to counties for veteran affairs — the legislature is considering sending money to the counties based on population instead of the same amount to each county. The issue was raised recently in Montgomery County — Sherman does not specify whether he is for or against it
There are currently five Republican candidates running for governor — Sherman, Randy Feenstra, Adam Steen, Eddie Andrews and Zach Lahn. Sherman says there is one area that separates him from the others
Sherman is a pastor from Williamsburg, IA who has served in the Iowa state legislature. He will be back in Atlantic on Tuesday, March 24 for a Republican Meet the Candidates event with those running for governor, senate and auditor. The event starts at 6:30 at the Cass County Community Center.
