(Guthrie Center, IA) — While EMS service is still being debated in Guthrie County, Director of Public Health Jotham Arbor says that the first responders program that he has established is expanding. At Tuesday’s supervisors meeting, Arbor reported that they now have first responders covering the northern part of the county
Arbor says there are around 10 students at their classes and will finish them in April which will bolster the numbers of first responders in a couple of months. Arbor says the response times are going down
Arbor says they have not added any first responders in Guthrie Center
Arbor also says they have a goal of getting new defibrillators and is in the process of applying for a grant for funding. Arbor says the first responders program is still in its infancy — they only started in May of last year.
