(Indianapolis) The Iowa Hawkeyes are heading back to the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game once again. The Hawkeyes leaned on their defense and experience, using a dominant fourth quarter to clamp down on Michigan and secure a 59–42 semifinal victory.
Iowa’s defense completely stifled Michigan down the stretch, allowing the Hawkeyes to pull away in the fourth quarter. Michigan held a slim 36–35 lead heading into the final quarter after limiting the Hawkeyes to just seven points in the third period. Iowa responded in dominant fashion. The Hawkeyes erupted for a 24–6 run in the final quarter, completely flipping the game in their favor.
The Hawkeyes finished the game with balance scoring. Ava Heiden led the way with 16 points, followed by Chit Chat Wright and Hannah Stuelke, pouring in 13, while Taylor Stremlow delivered 11 points, with a handful coming in the fourth quarter to close this game out.
With the win, Iowa advances to the title game where they will face UCLA Tipoff is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. CT on CBS.
