(Griswold) The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the victim of the house fire at 68444 560th Street near Griswold on February 24th has been identified as 53-year-old Carl Eldon Shaffer, of Griswold. At this time, the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
The fire was reported the morning on February 24th. When firefighters arrived on scene, the residence was engulfed in flames and beginning to collapse. After extinguishing the fire, responders discovered Shaffer inside the home.
