(Atlantic) The Cass County Auditor’s Office reports that voters in the CAM Community School District overwhelmingly approved Public Measure DH during a special election held Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The measure authorizes a 10-year Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) of $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed property value, beginning in June 2026. Final results show 222 votes in favor (86.05%) and 36 opposed (13.95%).
Voter turnout reached 13.44%, with 258 of the district’s 1,920 registered voters casting ballots.
About Public Measure DH
Public Measure DH allows the CAM Community School District Board of Directors to levy the voter-approved tax for a period of 10 years. Funds generated by the levy may be used for purposes including:
- Purchasing and improving school grounds
- Constructing or purchasing school buildings
- Opening roads to school facilities
- Buying, leasing, or lease-purchasing technology and equipment
- Paying debts related to school construction (excluding bond interest)
- Acquiring library materials
- Repairing, remodeling, reconstructing, improving, or expanding school facilities
- Energy conservation projects
- Renting facilities under Iowa Code Chapter 28E
- Purchasing student transportation equipment
- Entering lease-purchase agreements for buildings or equipment
- Other purposes authorized by law
The levy will not exceed $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation and will begin with the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, and continue annually for up to 10 years.
