(Atlantic) An Atlantic man charged in the death of a child has entered a plea of guilty.
According to court records, 26-year-old Corbin Loudermilk entered a plea of guilty to County II Child Endangerment Resulting in Death. In the plea agreement, Count I, Murder in the 1st Degree, will be dismissed.
The maximum possible punishment for a conviction under Child Endangerment Resulting in Death is an indeterminate term of imprisonment not to exceed fifty years. The State and Corbin Loudermilk agree that the court shall impose a mandatory minimum of three-tenths of the total sentence, for a mandatory minimum sentence of 15-years.
The record states that Loudermilk was the parent of “K.E.L.”; and by an intentional act or series of intentional acts, he used unreasonable force that resulted in the death of “K.E.L.”. This incident happened in early 2025.
Loudermilk was originally set to go to trial on April 28th.
Sentencing is set for March 9th at 10:30 a.m.
