(Johnston, Iowa) A woman from Guthrie County, 35-year-old Claire Faalk, is facing multiple charges after 34 cats were rescued from a Johnston home, where they were found in poor health, according to KCCI. Faalk has been charged with four counts of animal neglect causing serious injury or death, and two counts of animal neglect causing injury.
On December 17, 2025, authorities conducted an animal welfare check at a residence on Hyperion Point Drive in Johnston and discovered the cats suffering from severe conditions, including ear mites, fleas, dental disease, and upper respiratory infections. The animals were removed from the property with the help of Polk County Animal Control and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, who transported them for treatment. Faalk was arrested and taken to Polk County Jail.
