(Iowa City, IA) — As usual Bennett Stirtz had a big game for Iowa men’s basketball but this time he had some help. Stirtz scored 22 points while Alvaro Folguerias had a season high 20 as the Hawkeyes stormed past Ohio St. 74-57 in a Big Ten game on Wednesday night.
OSU jumped out to a 14-2 lead but Folguerias got Iowa going with a triple and after a Buckeye free throw, the Hawkeyes scored 18 straight points and had a 28-3 run to take full control. Ohio St. missed 9 straight shots in 8 plus minutes. The Buckeyes could get no closer than a 10 point deficit the rest of the game.
Stirtz was 8-11 from the field including 3-6 on threes. Folguerias was 8-10 from the field and added 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Cam Manyawu had 12 points and 7 rebounds and Tavion Banks added 10 points for Iowa (20-8, 10-7).
Ohio St. (17-11, 9-8) was led by Devin Royal with 16, John Mobley Jr. poured in 15 and Bruce Thornton added 10 points.
