(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved authorizing the Chair to sign an agreement with Snyder & Associates for inspector services on the Trailblazer Tallgrass CO2 Pipeline.
County Engineer Andy Wicks explained that the Iowa Utilities Commission mandates that whenever a company files for a pipeline, each county must hire an inspector. The mandate specifies the county engineer for this role; however, if the county engineer does not have the manpower to perform the work, the county must seek assistance from an outside consultant.
The Inspector shall be responsible for, but not limited to, on-site inspections and documentation of compliance with the IUC’s standards for restoration of agricultural lands in accordance with the restoration plan, and/or the written independent company and landowner agreements.
The pipeline will span just over one mile in Pottawattamie County. It will begin at the southwestern corner of the SIRE property, run south, and cross into Mills County at an angle before passing underneath the river into Nebraska. The company plans to break ground soon.
