(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors talked about the property tax levy and FY 2027 budget at Tuesday’s meeting.
County Auditor Dani Fink went through some of figures of the revenues and expenses of the general supplemental budget — revenues are up about $18,000 and expenses are down about $249,000. The county still has not spent $66,000 out of $133,000 for EMA; only $25,000 has been spent out of $89,000 for the District Court budget; and in the elections budget, only $117,000 has been spent out of $236,000 but the primary election in June will take up more expenses. Overall, Fink says she believes FY 2026 will fall pretty close to the estimates
The Supervisors also looked at the property tax levy and debated about reducing the rural services levy
Fink further seemed to think the general basic and general supplemental levy cannot be lowered. The supervisors plan to start discussion on the budget at next week’s meeting. They have set a date for a public hearing on the property tax levy for March 24th at 9:00 am. They are targeting April 7th for a budget hearing and adoption.
