(Lincoln, NE) — Pryce Sandfort has found a home in a Nebraska uniform. The Iowa transfer hit six three pointers on Saturday and had his 2nd highest scoring game of the season with 29 points as the 7th ranked Huskers destroyed Northwestern 68-49 on Saturday afternoon.
Nebraska (22-3, 11-3) committed 18 turnovers which tied a season high and had to overcome a poor shooting performance in the first half — the Huskers only led 28-27 at the half. Trailing 39-38 midway through the 2nd half, Nebraska went on a 14-4 run. Cale Jacobsen came off the bench to give the Cornhuskers a spark, scoring 8 of his 10 points in the stretch and blocked a shot. Nebraska led 52-43 and Northwestern only had 3 baskets the rest of the game.
Sandfort was 10-21 from the field including 6-13 from three point land and added 6 rebounds. Sam Hoiberg had 14 points and Jacobsen added 10.
Northwestern (10-16, 2-13) was led by Nick Martinelli with 11 points but the Big Ten scoring leader was averaging 22.5 per game.
