(Logan, IA) — Logan Magnolia has plenty of candidates to go to the boys wrestling state tournament this year — the Panthers will head to Class 1A District #9 hosted by Riverside this Saturday. There are two freshmen in the lower weights that have had big seasons — Landon Thayer is ranked 6th at 106 pounds with a 44-7 record and Brodie Johnson is 39-12 at 113 pounds. Head Coach Dan Thompson says they have grown up fast
Thompson says that he is not sure which weight that Junior Crosby Yoder will wrestle at — he is ranked 2nd at 126 with a 47-3 record but could move down to 120. Noah Archibald will go to whichever weight Yoder does not. At 215 pounds, Carson Edney has been a fixture, is ranked 4th and is 44-5
Other standouts for Logan Magnolia include Junior Max Wingert who will fall at 138 or 144 and is 41-10; Sophomore Robert Bothwell is 28-21 at 165; Senior Tyson Jenkins is 28-14 at 175; and Senior Aaron Cordell is 27-14 at 190. Thompson says that this district has some wide open brackets
Other schools competing at Riverside include Bedford, CAM, East Mills, Essex, Lenox, South Central Calhoun, Southwest Valley and West Monona.
We will have a district wrestling recap show Saturday at 6 pm on KSOM.
