(Atlantic) The Atlantic girls’ basketball team faces Harlan in the final regular-season game tonight at Harlan. Harlan enters the contest with an 8-12 record. Atlantic is 11-8, and looking to secure a third-place spot in the Hawkeye Ten Conference.
The Atlantic girls’ basketball team already secured back-to-back winning seasons. Head Coach Dan Vargason says tonight’s game offers added motivation for his players.
The Trojans defeated Harlan 52-34 in the first go-around. The Trojans shot 51 percent from the field and finished 8-12 from the free-throw line.
Katrina Williams leads the Trojans, averaging 11.37 ppg, Makenna Schroeder averages 9.58 ppg, and Zoey Kirchhoff averages 8.75 ppg. Additionally, Williams leads the team with 7.8 rebounds per game and has snagged 54 steals. Kirchhoff has 50 steals so far this season.
Brinley Van Baale leads the Cyclones with a 10.80 ppg average. Addison Wicks averages 7.35 points per game, and Avery Manz 5.60.
