(Greenfield, IA) — There are only 29 wrestlers in Iowa boys history that have 200 career victories and Nodaway Valley Ashton Honnold could join that prestigious club this Saturday when the Wolverines head to their district tournament in Truro, IA. Honnold currently has 197 wins and if the 285 pound weight bracket is full this Saturday and Honnold has three matches, then a district title would send him to state with a chance at a third straight title, he would extend is match winning streak which currently stands at 128 and he would get win #200. His Dad and Head Coach Brad Honnold
Honnold will not be the only story for Nodaway Valley on Saturday — Junior Caleb Christensen is 49-0 and will the #1 seed in his 190 pound bracket this Saturday. Honnold says he has flown under the radar
Honnold is still not sure which weight Keyin Steeve will compete at — the Senior is ranked #10 at 138 but Brayden Scheffers of Interstate 35 is ranked #3 and Max Pollack is ranked #8 at that weight while 144 is not easy either says Honnold
Also for Nodaway Valley, Ty Strode will be the #1 seed at districts at 132 — he is ranked #7 with a record of 38-5 — Josh Nelson is ranked #5 at 105 at 38-7; Thomas Herick is 28-10 at 120; Jett Christensen is 32-11 at 126; and Matthew Nelson is 31-25 at 157.
Other schools at Interstate35 include Central Decatur, Earlham, East Union, Griswold, Joshua Christian Academy, Mount Ayr, Pekin, SE Warren/Melcher Dallas and Wayne.
