The Nebraska men’s basketball broke a two game losing streak while the Huskers women went to 0-6 against Quad One opponents.
Nebraska’s women lost to #22 Maryland 78-60 in Lincoln. The game was marred by turnovers — 22 by Nebraska and 2o for the Terps. Logan Nissley had a career high 22 points for the Huskers (16-8, 5-8) — she had 6 three pointers and 13 points in the first half for her first ever 20+ point game. Britt Prince set a school record when she made her 54th straight free throw.
Maryland (19-6, 7-6) was led by Isimemme Ozzy-Momodu with 16 points, Oluchi Okanawa had 14 points, Rainey Welson finished with 13 points off the bench and Yarden Garzon added 11.
The #9 ranked Nebraska men thumped Rutgers 80-68 in New Jersey to get a much needed Big Ten win after losing back to back games to Michigan and Illinois.
Nebraska (21-2, 10-2) built a huge lead and went up by 20 with about 12 minutes left in the 2nd half. The Scarlet Knights tried to mount a comeback and cut the gap in half with 27 seconds left but it was not nearly enough.
Rienk Mast led the Huskers with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Pryce Sandfort had 15 points, Sam Hoilberg had 13, and Jamarques Lawrence added 12. Nebraska was 9-27 on their three pointers.
Rutgers (9-15, 2-11) was led by Tariq Francis with 16 points.
