(Des Moines, IA) — About 250 soldiers deployed in Operation Inherent Resolve are returning the U.S.
The Joint Force Headquarters in Des Moines made the announcement on Sunday, adding that the soldiers helped, “reduce the capability of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.” The soldiers were part of the same operation that led to the death of Staff Sergeants William “Nate” Howard and Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar who were killed in an ISIS attack in Syria.
The Joint Force Headquarters says more soldiers are starting to return because of the progress they have made. Welcome home ceremonies are scheduled in Des Moines and Sioux City in the coming weeks.
