(Columbus, OH) — Jaloni Cambridge led #11 Ohio St. to a 90-71 win over Nebraska in a Big Ten women’s basketball game on Sunday.
Chance Gray hit an opening three pointer for the Buckeyes who took control early. Britt Prince did hit a three pointer with 23 seconds left in the first quarter to cut the lead to 19-13 after one. In the 2nd quarter, the Huskers went on a 7-0 run to take a brief 20-19 lead — a lead that lasted exactly 12 seconds. Cambridge hit a three pointer and OSU retook the lead that they would never give up. Kennedy Cambridge added another three about a minute later. Nebraska got the lead down to 29-27 but the Buckeyes went on a 10-4 run to close out the first half.
The Buckeyes extended it to 20 in the third quarter although the Huskers cut it in half, trailing 64-54 at the end of three quarters. After Amiah Hargrove hit a three pointer at the start of the last period, Nebraska actually came within four points 66-62 with 8:10 remaining. Ohio St. then ran away on a 18-4 run to put the game away.
Cambridge was 9-14 from the field including 2-3 on her threes for Ohio St. (20-3. 9-2); Gray had 21 points; Kennedy Cambridge finished with 12; and Elsa Lemmila and Ava Watson each added 10.
Nebraska (16-6, 5-6) was led by Hargrove with 24 points; Prince had 12 and Logan Nissley added 11. The Huskers had started the season with a 12 game win streak but they have now lost 4 in a row and 6 of their last 8 and are 0-5 against Top 25 teams this season. Jessica Petrie for Nebraska missed her 2nd straight game with an illness.
