(Manhattan, KS) — Kansas St. never really had a chance as 8th ranked Iowa St. stormed past the Wildcats 95-61 in a Big 12 men’s basketball game on Sunday.
K-St. led 4-2 but Milan Momcilovic hit a three pointer that started a 12-0 run and the Cyclones never gave up the lead. Up 24-11, Nate Heise hit a three pointer that triggered a 13-0 run. Iowa St. would lead 50-21 at the half.
Five players were in double figures for Iowa St. (20-2, 7-2) led by Joshua Jefferson’s 19 points with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Momcilovic had 18 points going 5-9 from three point land. Tamin Lipsey had 16 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Killyan Toure had 13 points and Heise added 11. The Cyclones were fueled by 14 three pointers on 27 attempts, an incredible 52 percent from beyond the arc.
Kansas St. (10-12, 1-8) was led by P.J. Haggerty with 23 points. It was the worse loss since the Wildcats hired Jerome Tang as their head coach in 2023.
Iowa St. is off for nearly a week — they will host Baylor on Saturday, February 7 with a 1:00 pm tip off, Noon Cyclones Pre Game on KSOM.
