(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. did not have the best game shooting the basketball but Central Florida could not put the peach in the peach basket either and the Cyclones won it 65-52 in a Big 12 women’s game on Saturday.
ISU shot just 39 percent from the field and only 9-36 from three point land but the Knights shot worse — 36 percent on their field goals and only 1-9 on their threes.
Trailing 8-4, the Cyclones went on a 13-0 run sparked by a three from Evangelia Paulk followed by another triple from Arianna Jackson. After Audi Crooks made 2 FT, Jackson hit another three. Iowa St. led 17-12 after one quarter and 31-23 at the half. UCF got the lead down to 8 late in the third quarter but Jackson hit another triple to close out the third quarter up 46-35.
Iowa St. (18-5, 6-5) was led by Jada Williams with 23 points but was only 1-7 on her threes. Jackson had 18 points on 6-12 from three point land. Crooks kept her double digit streak but only barely — scoring 10 points and adding 13 rebounds. Crooks has scored in double figures in 89 games which is the longest streak in NCAA Division I.
Jacorriah Bracey led UCF (10-11, 2-8) with 16 points.
