(Oakland, IA) — Riverside Boys Wrestling will be competing on Saturday at the Charger Invitational in Guthrie Center. It will be the Bulldogs final regular season tournament — they will host Regional duals next Tuesday and then host Districts on February 14. At the John J. Harris tournament, Riverside finished runner up to Atlantic. Drew Anderson and Kingston Carrigan were individual champions in Corning — Anderson is ranked #1 at 138 pounds and is 35-1 while Carrigan is ranked #11 at 126 pounds and is 32-11.
Wyatt Bell finished runner up at 215 pounds at the John J. Harris Tournament despite having a 13-17 record. Head Coach Casey Conover says he had wrestled at heavyweight earlier in the season which distorts his record
Also for the Bulldogs, Max Shanno is 35-9 and ranked #5 at 165 pounds; Jaxon Gordon fell out of the rankings at 157 but is 38-7. Overall, Conover likes the way his team is working on the mat right now
With post-season wrestling coming, Conover wants his kids to stay healthy
Teams competing Saturday at the Charger Invite include AC/GC, AHSTW, Coon Rapids Bayard, Eagle Grove, Earlham, Emmetsburg, Greene County, Manson NW Webster, Moravia, Nodaway Valley, Ogden, Panorama, Perry, SE Polk, Southeast Valley, Southeast Warren/Melcher Dallas, Wayne, West Central Valley, and West Hancock.
Next Tuesday, Riverside will face the winner of Earlham and Interstate 35.
