(Oakland, IA) — It was a Riverside sweep over arch rival AHSTW on Tuesday night — the girls won 47-27 and the boys won 62-50.
The Bulldog girls used a 23-0 run in the 2nd half to pull away from the Lady Vikes after a close first half. The Vikes led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter and the Bulldogs led 19-17 at the half. However, the well dried up for AHSTW going 4-21 from the field in the 2nd half. Sophia Fenner, meanwhile, took over the game in the third quarter with 9 points on her drives to the basket and finished with 13 in the game.
Kayden Schnack led Riverside (16-2) with 14 points and Sydney Somers added 9.
Clara Pace led AHSTW (8-8) with 10 and Addison Carroll added 9.
The boys game was similar to the girls — it was a tug of war until the Bulldogs pulled away in the 2nd half. Early on, Cole Jeppesen was scorching hot from the field, hitting 4 threes in the opening quarter and added two more triples in the 2nd period and had 22 points at the half.
Jeppesen was face guarded in the 2nd half so Peyton Amdor took over, scoring 10 points in the third quarter as Riverside extended a 31-30 lead at the half to 47-38 after three quarters. The Vikings missed 10 consecutive shots at one point in the 2nd half and were 0-8 on their threes in the last half while they were 5-8 in the first half.
Jeppsen led Riverside (9-7) with 23 points while Amdor added 19. Brody Henderson chipped in 8.
AHSTW (3-12) was led by Collin Harder with 15, Evan Harder 14 and Kaden Jorgensen added 10.
