(Atlantic) Raccoon River–Northwest advanced nine wrestlers to the championship matches, crowned six individual champions, and claimed the team title with 296.5 points at Saturday’s Atlantic Girls Wrestling Tournament. SWAT placed three wrestlers in the finals, crowned one champion, and finished second among 19 teams with 127.5 points.
For Northwest, (top Photo) the six title winners were, Cassidy McCallister (105), Katie Biscoglia (110), Addison McGuiness (115), Ellie Hancock (125), Calista Rodish (140), and Natalie Kellar (145). Runners-up went to, Mya Van Beek (100), Toni Wilen (120), and Izzy Duncan (130). Bethann Templeman finished third at (135), Elizabeth Ehlen (120), fourth, Bella Bruins (155), Kelsey Kinney (170), and Alani Pierce (235) all finished in fifth.
Stella Beattie captured the individual title at 170 pounds, earning a fall in 1:32 over Rylie Massey of Kuemper Catholic to lead SWAT. Megan Gerlock placed second at 190, while Bailey Lillard also finished runner-up at 145. Three additional SWAT wrestlers earned medals: Nadia South placed third at 105, Destiny Fry finished fifth at 120, and Jelina Gutierrez took sixth at 125. South Central–Calhoun, Creston, and Western Iowa rounded out the top five teams. Clarinda, Kuemper, Atlantic, Albia, and Des Moines Public Schools completed the top ten.
Creston turned in a strong performance with six medalists. Eva Chestnut (100), Sydney Hoffman, Alainah Galanakis (130), and Kora Lohoff each earned third-place finishes. Grace Keller placed fifth at 135, while Kaylee Wells finished sixth at 105.
Haley Armstrong remained undefeated at 235 pounds, capturing the individual title with a 20-second fall over Aliyah Payne of Clarinda. A video interview with Armstrong is posted below. Cadence Kinzie (115) and Leiah Thomas (155) each finished second, while Josephine Miller placed fourth at 170.
Sophia Hazen led ATU with a runner-up finish at 105 pounds. Trinity Bret placed fourth at 110, while Cecilia Forester finished fifth at 100. ATU concluded the tournament in 12th place with 66 points.
Lily Weinreich of Clarinda captured the championship at 135, earning a 29-second fall over Jada Hansen of Des Moines Public Schools.
Ellexis Stephens of Harlan claimed the individual title at 130 with a 14–4 major decision over Izzy Duncan. A video interview with Stephens is posted below.
