(Des Moines) The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for almost all of Iowa from Midnight tonight to noon on Friday.
Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 to 35 below zero are expected tonight into Friday morning, and they may return Friday night into Saturday morning. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Dress in layers, including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly.
Meanwhile, Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Page, and Fremont Counties are under a Cold Weather Advisory from midnight tonight until noon on Friday for dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero.
