(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. needed a spark and got one from Jada Williams. The Junior had a career high 44 points on Wednesday night beating Cincinnati 93-68 in a Big 12 women’s basketball game at Hilton Coliseum ending a five game losing streak.
Trailing 6-4 early, the Cyclones took control of the game with a 15-2 run and never took their foot off the gas — the Bearcats never had a lead the rest of the game. Iowa St. led 21-12 after the first quarter. They led by as many as 16 in the 2nd quarter and took a 41-28 advantage into the locker room. UC got the lead as close as 7 in the third quarter 48-41 but Iowa St. closed the period on a 20-8 run to lead 68-49 and won going away.
Williams was 15-22 shooting on the night including 6-10 from three point land. She added 8 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Earlier this season Audi Crooks set the Iowa St. record for points in a game with 47. Williams 44 now ranks just behind her teammate in Cyclones history.
Iowa St. (15-5, 3-5) also had 24 points from Crooks while Arianna Jackson added 11.
Cincinnati (7-13, 2-6) was led by Kylie Torrence with 20 points, Regan Jackson had 17 and Callyah DeVillasee added 15.
