(Marion) Atlantic advanced six wrestlers to the finals, crowned one champion, totaled 198.5 points, and finished second at the Lloyd Shaffer Wrestling Tournament on Saturday in Marion. Jesup claimed the team title with 230.5 points.
Jayden Harter (157), earned Atlantic’s lone championship by defeating Benton Communities Elias Bieschke in the finals by Tech Fall. Five other Trojan wrestlers finished as runners-up: Dayton Van Horn (106), Keaton Schroeder (120), Kalvin Hayes (150), Dreven Smith (165), and Donovan Hedrington (190).
Additional place-winners included Braxton Hass (132), who placed third; Landon Hagen (138), fourth; and Travin Thomas (215) and Cooper Woolsey (285), who both finished fifth. Hass reached a major milestone in his wrestling career on Saturday, surpassing 150 career wins.
