(Afton, IA) — East Union hosted a boys wrestling quad on Thursday night and there were plenty of close matches and close duals. Martensdale St. Mary’s was the winner going 3-0 with a win over Southwest Valley 47-31, beat Panorama 54-15 and beat East Union 42-34.
The Timberwolves went 1-2 with a win over Panorama 46-14 and lost to East Union 34-33. Southwest Valley had two matches go to overtime. Gavin Wetzel had only one match and beat Blake Schwartz of Panorama 18-15 in sudden death. Degan Farwell had 2 matches and got a SV win over Max Dukes of East Union 12-9. Also for the T-Wolves, Ben Waddell went 3-0 with two hard fought victoies 10-5 and 13-7 plus a forfeit. Brody Sparks went 2-1 with a tech fall and MD. Griffin Wetzel went 3-0 with 2 forfeits and a fall. Lucas James went 3-0 with 2 forfeits and a fall.
Panorama got its only win edging East Union 37-36.
