(Lawrence, KS) — Iowa St. and Kansas have played some epic men’s basketball games over the years but on Tuesday night it was a lopsided one. All in favor of Kansas who knocked the 3rd ranked Cyclones from the ranks of the unbeaten with an 84-63 win.
The Jayhawks led the entire game. Nate Heise hit a three pointer at the 12:45 mark of the first half to cut the lead to 14-9 and that is as close as Iowa St. came to winning. KU went on a 6-0 run to lead by 11 and stretched their lead to 44-23 at the half.
The Cyclones shot just 37 percent in the game and 9-27 from three point land. Joshua Jefferson was a miserable 4-14 from the field and Tamin Lipsey was 4-15. Jefferson and Jamarion Batemon led Iowa St. (16-1, 3-1) with 12 points, Milan Momcilovic had 11 and Lipsey added 10.
Kansas (12-5, 2-2) was led by Tre Whit with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Darryn Peterson had 16, Melvin Council Jr. put in 15 and Flory Bidunga added 10.
Iowa St. will visit Cincinnati this Saturday, Noon Cyclones Pre Game on KSOM.
