(Lincoln, NE) — Britt Prince had 20 points and Jessic Petrie put in 18 to lead #25 Nebraska over Indiana 78-73 in a Big 10 women’s basketball game on Thursday night.
With the game tied 11-11, Nebraska went on a 5-0 mini run to take a lead and stretched it to 23-16. The Hoosiers got the final two baskets of the first quarter to cut the lead to 23-20.
After an opening basket in the 2nd for the Hoosiers to cut the lead to one, the Huskers went on an 8-0 run to build a 31-22 advantage. They pushed the lead to 10 on a three pointer from Amiah Hargrove. A Hargove lay up made it 36-24. Nebraska would lead 38-30 at the half.
Down 48-37 in the third quarter, Indiana made their move and went on a 14-1 run. Maya Makalusky hit a three pointer to give Indiana the lead at 50-49. The game would be tied 53-53 at the end of three quarters.
The game went back and forth in the 4th quarter — after Shay Ciezki of Indiana tied the game at 65-65 with a short jumper the Huskers answered with a 14 footer from Britt Prince. After a timeout, Petrie got a huge block, Indiana got the rebound but turned it over and Petrie got a lay-up at the other end to take a 69-65 lead with 3:41 left. After a Hoosier miss, Callin Hake hit a dagger three pointer and Nebraska had a lead that Indiana could not overcome.
Prince was 6-11 from the field and 7-7 from the free throw line for Nebraska (14-2, 3-2). Prince also had 7 assists. Petrie had 7 rebounds. Logan Nissley added 11 points for the Huskers.
Indiana (11-6, 0-5) was led by Shay Ciezki with 31 points.
