(Guthrie Center, IA) — After about a month of debate, the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors have settled on representation for a committee to discuss EMS service to the county.
New Chair Steve Smith proposed 9 areas of the county to be represented — Bayard, Bagley, Adair, Guthrie Center, Panora, Stuart, Union township, the Guthrie County Sheriff, and an official from the Guthrie County hospital. Smith says there are a number of different reasons to include the hospital
Smith also says that the supervisors themselves would not serve on the main voting committee and instead serve on an ad hoc committee
Supervisor Mike Dickson objected to the committee structure saying it did not cover the whole county
After some more discussion, Dickson made a motion to change the structure of the committee but nobody seconded it. JD Kuster then motioned to approve the committee structure as proposed and Maggie Armstrong 2nd it. The vote was 4-1 with Dickson voting against.
The supervisors will now go to each area to work on finding people to serve and will work on getting names by January 27th.
