Wednesday, January 14: Iowa St. Head Coach Jimmy Rogers keeps adding in the portal and has found a young DE who will fight for playing time. Jareb Ramos is a 6 foot 4, 287 pound defensive lineman who played for Montana. For the Grizzlies, the Redshirt Junior had 31 tackles and 2 sacks in the 2025 season. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Rogers also went back to his old school at Washington St. and plucked another player — DB Tyrone Cotton III who is from the Chicago area will play closer to home at Ames. Cotton did not appear in a game this past season so he still has all 4 years of eligibility remaining. Cotton was a three-star prospect and ranked #40 in Illinois prospect rankings in 2025.
Tuesday, January 13: Iowa has landed a new running back — L.J. Phillips Jr. will be leaving South Dakota to play for the Hawkeyes and has two years of eligibility remaining. Phillips ran for 1,920 yards for the Coyotes this past season and 19 TD plus 28 receptions for 195 yards and another score. He is only 5 foot 9 and 225 pounds so the bigger schools probably overlooked him in the initial recruiting process. Phillips will fight for his carries next fall — Iowa did lose Jaziun Patterson and Terrell Washington Jr. to the transfer portal but leading rusher Kamari Moulton returns along with promising sophomores Nathan McNeil and Xavier Williams.
Tuesday, January 13: Missouri has two new quarterbacks. The Tigers have added former Ole Miss QB Austin Simmons and former UConn QB Nick Evers. Simmons would be the favorite to be the starter after losing the job at Ole Miss to Trinidad Chambliss. Ironically, Chambliss looks like he will now be heading to the NFL Draft after the NCAA denied him an extra year of eligibility although he plans on challenging that decision. Evers was the back up this past season with the Huskies is now on his 4th college team after brief stops at Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Beau Pribula was the Tigers starter last year but went into the portal and announced he is transferring to Virginia.
Monday, January 12: Former Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola is going west to play for the Oregon Ducks. Current starting quarterback Dante Moore has not made his final decision on whether he will go to the NFL or whether he will return. If Moore does decide to come back, Raiola could redshirt and then return to start for Oregon the following season. Raiola is recovering from a broken right fibula that he suffered against USC on November 1. Oregon has lost two other quarterbacks to the transfer portal.
In other portal news on Monday, ESPN is reporting that LSU will sign QB Sam Leavitt, one of the most sought after players in the portal. Leavitt chose new Head Coach Lane Kiffin and the Tigers over reported visits to Miami, Tennessee and Kentucky.
Also, former Iowa St. WR Xavier Townsend has announced he will transfer to Purdue and former Iowa St. WR Kai Black will transfer to Northern Iowa.
Friday, January 9: Iowa has landed a huge defensive lineman in the portal. 6 foot 6, 255 pounder Lance Ingold from Northern Illinois will be coming to Iowa City. Ingold was a 3 star recruit out of high school and had 17 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in just 6 games for the Huskies. He still has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Wednesday, January 7: One day after losing a QB, Nebraska found another one. UNLV transfer Anthony Colandrea has committed to the Huskers according to a report from ESPN. Colandrea was the Mountain West Player of the Year for the Rebels with 3,459 passing yards and 649 rushing yards which ranked 5th in the country in total offense. UNLV won 10 games this past season but lost to Ohio in the Frisco Bowl. Colandrea will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Tuesday, January 6: Iowa has landed a DL from FCS power Holy Cross. Brice Stevenson is a 6-2 300 pound interior lineman who had 37 tackles and 3.5 TFL this past season. The Hawkeyes are losing 4 seniors on their defensive front so Stevenson will offset that and provide immediate help. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Tuesday, January 6: In a strange twist, former Notre Dame QB Kenny Minchey has withdrawn his commitment to Nebraska and will instead go to Kentucky. The redshirt sophomore will have two years of eligibility remaining and replaces QB Cutter Boley who is headed to Arizona St.
Monday, January 5: The top quarterbacks in the portal are Josh Hoover from TCU; Brendan Sorsby from Cincinnati and Sam Leavitt from Arizona St. Hoover committed to Indiana over the weekend. Sorsby this morning has committed to Texas Tech. Leavitt is still undecided.
