(Oakland, IA) — Riverside will host Sidney in a non-conference basketball doubleheader today, coverage on KSOM.
The boys played on Friday and beat Audubon 54-52 to improve to 6-2 on the season. Peyton Amdor led the way with 17 points against the Wheelers and averages 18.3 points a game. Amdor continues to play inside with the big boys despite being undersized but he is getting his points and getting to the free throw line which pleases Head Coach Nick Kroon
Cole Jeppesen is 2nd on the team with 11.7 points a game and Brody Henderson is averaging 8.1 points per contest and was red hot the first half of the season from three point land, shooting 14 of 25 for 56 percent
Riverside matches up well against the Cowboys who are playing their first game of January with a 2-4 record. Carter Jorgensen leads Sidney with 18.3 ppg and is only 17 of 72 from three point land for 24 percent.
On the girls side, its the first game of the new year for both teams. Riverside is ranked #13 in Class 2A with a 7-1 record. The Cowgirls are 2-4 — they don’t have anybody who averages in double figures but are a good rebounding team with Sophomore Czandrya Morgan leading at 8.3 rbg. Bulldogs Head Coach Mark Jeppesen says the Cowgirls rebound like his team
