(Philadelphia, PA) — A new study out of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is demonstrating the risks of giving cellphones to children at age 12. It shows a higher percentage of depression, obesity and lack of sleep among those who had mobile devices as preteens compared to those who did not.
Dr. Ron Barzilay, the lead researcher, says the study consisted of data from more than ten-thousand young people as a part of an ongoing study on adolescent brain development.
The findings are published in the medical journal Pediatrics.
