(Atlantic) Atlantic wrestler Braxton Hass has been named the KS 95.7 Armour Insurance Trojan Athlete of the Week after his impressive performances in duals against Kuemper and Lewis Central, as well as his individual title at the Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invitational on Saturday.
Hass, now with a record of 19-3, dominated in both the Lewis Central and Kuemper duals. In the Lewis Central dual, he secured a pin in 5:39, and against Kuemper, he earned a quick fall in just 1:22. The Trojans defeated Lewis Central 59-18 and cruised to a 78-0 victory over Kuemper.
Hass kept his momentum going at the Jim Kinyon Invitational, where he swept through the competition. He recorded two pins, a decision, and capped off the day with a dominant 13-1 major decision over Hayden Albaugh of Williamsburg to claim the gold.
The two-time state qualifier entered the season with 117 career wins.
Hass says the effort in practice is there. He says the freshmen newcomers are working hard, the veterans are picking up the pace, and he likes what he sees from the team so far.
The Trojans are 5-0 in duals heading into the Christmas Break.
The Trojans’ next competition is on January 3 at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Tournament, compete the following week in a quadrangular with Logan-Magnolia, OABCIC, and Woodbine on January 6, and host their Rollin Dyer Wrestling Tournament on January 10.
