(Ames) Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht revealed Saturday via social media that he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, saying he is seeking “new opportunities for my senior season.”
The move places one of college football’s most accomplished returning quarterbacks on the market. Becht has started the past three seasons for the Cyclones and compiled 26 wins. He has thrown for 9,274 yards in his career, the second-highest total among returning quarterbacks behind TCU transfer Josh Hoover. His 64 touchdown passes and 83 total touchdowns both rank in the top five nationally among quarterbacks expected to return.
Becht’s exit plans succeeds Coach Matt Campbell decision to leave Iowa State of the Head Coaching job at Penn State. Rocco Becht submitted this statement on X on Saturday morning.
