(Atlantic) The Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors welcomed Coyote Willow Wind, a wind energy project based in Cass and Audubon Counties, as a new Chamber member on Thursday.
Jarrod Beckstrom, Senior Development Manager at Apex Clean Energy, said this is a 200 Megawatt project, which is enough to power about 70,000 homes.
The wind farm will be located in southwest Audubon County and northwestern Cass County.
Beckstrom said 2026 will be a year full of studies, including one focused on wildlife.
Beckstrom said they are targeting 2028 for pre-construction work and 2029 for construction.
One thing Apex Clean Energy prides itself on is its community engagement. Corey Eberling, Public Engagement Field Organizer, spoke about the company’s community grant program.
In 2024, Apex Clean Energy provided $80,000 in grants, donations, sponsorships, and scholarships.
