(Audubon) Region XII Council of Governments and the Audubon County Economic Development and Tourism are holding an open house on Thursday, December 18, for a three-bedroom, newly remodeled home in Audubon.
Karla Janning, Housing Programs Coordinator for Region XII, says their agency was fortunate enough to receive $850,000 from the Iowa Finance Authority in 2022. The sole purpose is to help create workforce housing development within its service area.
Janning says when Region XII was awarded the funds, the agency reached out to its local entities and economic development. She says that through this process, they became aware of a privately for-sale home at 303 Pacific Avenue in Audubon.
Janning says the updates include the roof, siding, windows, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and a half bath in the home’s downstairs area. Additionally, contractors fully renovated the upstairs bathroom and relocated the kitchen to one of the larger lower-level rooms, adding a dining area. Not to mention the furnishings, carpet, and paint. Janning says it is all new.
People Interested must be a first-time home buyer, or someone who has never had a deed in their name, or has not had a deed in their name for the past three years. Additionally, they could be a displaced homemaker or a veteran.
The interested buyer’s income must be 80 percent of the county average. Janning says that equates to a single person’s income of $51,550.00, or a family of four, that income could be $73,600.00.
Janning says Region XII can offer some down payment on the property to the buyer; however, they must secure their primary financing through a local bank or a Credit Union.
Anyone interested in this property or who has questions can contact Region XII at 712-792-9914.
