(Elliott) Law enforcement confirmed that a woman from the Red Oak area was found deceased near Elliott on Monday afternoon.
Sergeant Jim Doty with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office informed KSOM/KS95 News that authorities received a report at approximately 3:37 p.m. about a woman who may have been deceased alongside the road near Elliott. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered the woman had indeed passed away. Her car was parked nearby. The woman has been identified as 65-year-old Nickie Carlson.
Sergeant Doty indicated that there is no evidence suggesting the woman was struck by a vehicle, and foul play is not suspected. It appears that she died due to exposure to the elements. Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
