(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett discussed a partnership for an expansion and enhancement of the Bull Creek detention basin with the Atlantic School Board Wednesday evening.
Atlantic was chosen by ISU to be part a pilot program for the Mayors’ Design Workshop.
Garrett said that after discussions with ISU and Snyder & Associates, and after working with the students to determine what remediation might be possible, they developed a watershed project, but a detention pond is needed to slow the flow downtown.
Grace noted that an alternative location for a detention pond would have to be on a piece of property that the city owns close to an area that flows down through the town.
The school board agreed they could come to the table and have that conversation. The committee will begin after the first of the year.
